What to do when the value of my house is less than the principal on my mortgage?
I live in Florida and has one year ARM 7, and I was interested the refinancing of a 30-year fixed rate. However, my house is worth less than $ 90K that the outstanding principal amount on my mortgage, then of course, my bank will not let me Back to funding. What are my options if any? Is there a government program or any new law that allows me to refinance based on the new value of the house?
There is one thing. Unfortunately all the help that the government is giving only helps those who are already late, but have the potential to catch up on that offer. I'm in a similar situation, although a fixed rate (but want a better rate now) and is not as big of a negative value. We're trapped!
