Asked about the standard SQL Server 2005?
Do you need a license for each user using SQL Server 2005? I plan instead of a Access database tables in our network storage and data in SQL Server 2005 Standard. I'm surprised by the estimated cost of about $ 5000 for SQL Server processor 2005 Standard alone - unlimited number of clients. I have 50 users who want easy access. Nessescarily do not know that all 50 users who have access to the database consecutively, but I will not hinder anything, if they wish ... Is it normal for the 50-user license? Is it cheaper to buy a single processor, Instead of buying by the CAL? What is the correct procedure? It is possible that SQL Server 2005 handles thread / users / licenses differently than other products? Is there a better solution?
That does not sound good prices for an unlimited number of users based on per-processor licensing model. The alternative is the user server more / Device CALs, but for 50 users, could be about the same. Check out this link for more information.
