I want to digitize my collection of tapes ... Any ideas? I've heard of software Pyro, is it good?
This is a project for my work. We have a large collection of oral histories, about 225 cassettes. It would be very expensive to send and have someone else do.
Put simply, you will connect your cassette player to your PC sound card, then play the video while recording on your PC. A step-by-step tutorial is available at: http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/DIY/index.php (follow the link "tape to CD) recording software is the key, free software downloads are available at: http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/downloads.php I used 'Magix Audacity Audio Cleaning Lab 'and' - Audacity is particularly popular because it's free! If you record in WAV format, expect file sizes of about 10MB per minute, or 1MB per minute for MP3 (at 128kbps). Once your digital versions of the inscription on your PC, simply burn to a CD (or a burning software like Nero, ..). If you use Magix Audio Cleaning, the software will burn an audio CD that without additional software (if you have a CD recording drive, of course!) You lame_enc.dll file will need "additional export MP3 - this can also be downloaded from the free software page.
