Best Home English classes at school by a student of eighth?
I will begin my three daughters home education during the early stages and I'm looking curriculum of English Grammar book for my 8. I McDougal Littell English for students 8 and Houghton Mifflin English Level 8. I really do not want a program Christian based. Has anyone had luck with one of these or have other suggestions? For my other two I think I'm going to Saxon Phonics Both are entering the second category, but it is a developmental delay, has anyone had good success with Saxon phonics.
We also use rod and staff, but the other person says, is Most Christian based. Mennonite to be exact. The explanations, however, are very good. I love this show, and although I am not a Mennonite, I've never had any problems, but if I were not Christian, I believe that many problems with it ... I know it's used by some secular homeschoolers, but seriously look before you buy it because it is Christian in content. Calvert is not a Christian base. It is secular, but most of its program must be purchased together. You can not buy that for a single item. We use Brain Pop, but I think is rather an interesting complement, then a full program in English. I could not think like a text in English program. Based on the kind of books you've listed, you want a more traditional approach to English, so if is true, I do not think that the brain of Pop could work for you. Trips would use English. Earlier versions are Catholic, so make sure you have newer versions that are secular. Another program I recommend is the classical writing. He is stronger than writing. It is based on classical education, yet we know that this is not so easy to use for a new homeschooling parents Rod and staff travel or in English, etc, would be. Alternatively, search Prentice Hall. I found one of the best sources of secular subjects. I have your program literature for students 7th grade and I think that is very well done. As for phonetics, I did not use Saxon Phonics. What I do for my son who had developmental problems, and was told he may never learn to read has been playing and talking. Now is the 99th percentile in reading at grade 6. To my children, began his teaching your child to read 100 easy lessons, and then used Hooked on Phonics. Many libraries carry them.
