How can I improve the performance of my computer on the Internet?

I realized that my laptop is going to 1 GHz and 384 MB of RAM has problems when navigating through Yahoo and CNBC and freezes occasionally on the screen has a flicker problem. I'm running Windows Live OneCare, and when I get back up and let it run the Windows Live OneCare, eventually stops blinking somewhere in the analysis. I also realized that my use of PF is runing 448 MB and CPU usage goes to 100% often navigate through the financial pages. I try to understand what to do to improve notebook platform for better performance, whether to prevent hackers or enough memory RAM to operate on the Internet today effectively. Ideas for here because it is quite irritating. I New Microsoft Security downloads and I have a firewall installed. What type of software and / or type of computer you guys running?

uninstall Windows Live OneCare and replaced by a faster and Norton. And consider upgrading RAM and processor
